The 1986 Grand National engine was a 3.8L V-6 (3.8-inch bore x 3.40-inch stroke) equipped with multi-port Sequential Fuel Injection, a turbocharger, and an air-to-air intercooler. It produced 235 hp at 4,000 rpm and 330- lb.ft. torque at 2,400 rpm. In 1987, those fi gures were boosted to 245 hp at 4,000 rpm and 355-lb.ft. torque at 2,400 rpm.

To get into the low 12s (much less high 11s) on a stock turbo takes a very good launch and a good tune. With a bigger turbo such as a TA49 or TE44 its much easier to run low 12s or high 11s. With more boost and tune I think I could get the TE44 into the 11.3-11.4 range. I also have a GT6152 turbo which I have ran 11.4 on.Prep the intalke gasket. Use hylomar in the spray. Use just a small amount of the right stuff around the water jackets. lightly coat the intake areas with hylomar. Install gasket.
