Reached out to Litter Robot support and got this reply. Seems really helpful troubleshooting advice and I’m gonna try it out!! If you’ve disassembled the globe and the magnets have fallen out, please follow the troubleshooting below to put them back into place. Take your bonnet and globe off. Replace the bonnet without replacing the globe.The south pole should be to the outside. Rotate the globe , and stop it in the bottom up position. Find the magnet bump. Test again with the metal and the pole detector app. The outside pole should be north for the bottom. If your magnets are in place, check the hall effect sensor in the motor compartment.
