What is group me

Trying to open groupme, I have texted the code and it says it won’t work. I have tried to get the code texted to me and it says invalid number. My wife has tried to add me to a group and I receive text messages from groupme by sms but haven’t been able to open my own groupme account on the app. Please contact GroupMe for help.
